Researchers at BUCOM are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct while protecting the rights, safety, and privacy of all research participants. All studies involving human or animal subjects require prior approval from the appropriate oversight bodies (IRB or IACUC) to ensure compliance with federal and institutional regulations. Researchers must also adhere to data privacy laws such as HIPAA and FERPA when handling sensitive or identifiable information. BUCOM provides guidance, resources, and training to help investigators remain informed and fully compliant throughout the research process.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

Faculty PIs must submit a project protocol to the IBC for each new research project for IBC approval through the IBC protocol submission form. Projects may be renewed annually by submitting an IBC protocol renewal form. Protocols will be reviewed by the IBC on an annual basis during the months of June and July or on an as-needed basis in accordance with the NIH guidelines and this BUCOM policy. BMHCC Conflict of Interest Mandatory Disclosure

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation (BMHCC) requires completion of the annual BCRI Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) disclosure for all personnel involved in research activities

Once completed, please email the [email protected] to confirm completion of the system-generated COI form.

  • Please complete: “Conflict of Interest Questionnaire 2026.”
  • Using your University (baptist.edu) email, click “Continue with University SSO.” If prompted, log in with your baptist.edu credentials. You should then be logged in automatically.
  • Collaborating hospital personnel will be prompted to use the BMHCC SSO.
