Shekher Mohan, PhD
Dr. Mohan serves as the catalyst for BUCOM’s research strategy, policy, and compliance. He earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science (Pharmacology) from Oklahoma State Univ., Center for Health Sciences and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Life Sciences (Pharmacology) from the Univ., of Hertfordshire, England, UK. Dr. Mohan has led NIH-funded initiatives and authored 20+ peer‑reviewed papers in neuroscience, neurology, and behavioral science. Since 2018, he has held a number of leadership roles, including his current position as Associate Dean for Research and Scholarly Activity (2024-present), as well as Director of Sponsored Programs (2024-2025), Acting IRB Administrator (2024-2025), and Director of the Research Internship Program (2017-2020). He also served as a National Institutes of Health (NIH) as Scientific Review Officer (SRO), and currently serves as National Faculty as a National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) item writer/reviewer, and member of the Americal College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Educational Committee. As a native from England, he is an avid follower of football (“soccer”), cricket and in his free time enjoys cooking, outdoors, sci-fi movies, and historical nonfiction shows and movies.
Tomeka Nailer, PhD
Dr. Nailer leads laboratory operations, administers grant-supported activities, and maintains regulatory, quality, and safety compliance standards for BUCOM. She holds a PhD in Environmental Science and brings advanced training that integrates environmental health, laboratory science, and public health systems, providing a strong foundation for her work in research and regulatory leadership. With more than 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Nailer is an accomplished scientist and research leader with expertise in molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology, as well as laboratory quality management and public health initiatives. She has contributed to major scientific and regulatory efforts, including the COVID-19 response, while mentoring students and supporting hands-on research training. Dr. Nailer’s leadership helps expand operational capacity, uphold research excellence, and prepare the next generation of scientific professionals.
Sidney Stuckett, MSc
Mr. Stuckett conducts research in wet laboratory settings and supports laboratory administration at Baptist University. He holds a Master's degree in Integrative Biology and has nearly seven years of experience in laboratory environments, including approximately two years in laboratory administration. His work includes conducting laboratory-based research, maintaining laboratory operations, and supporting research initiatives across a variety of scientific disciplines.
Kaylee Thompson, MA
Miss Thompson is a Grant Writer at the BUCOM Office of Research, where she supports faculty, staff, students, and institutional leadership in scientific writing, grant proposal development, sponsored program submissions, and research communications. She brings more than 29 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, communications, and proposal development within fast-paced professional environments. Her primary responsibilities include writing and editing competitive grant applications, strengthening proposal narratives, and preparing supporting materials for external funding opportunities. She also provides editorial support for scientific posters, journal manuscripts, presentations, and other scholarly works, helping shape complex academic, clinical, and research content into clear, polished communication for varied audiences. In addition, she contributes to the development of standard operating procedures, workflows, and scalable administrative processes that support the continued growth of BUCOM’s research and sponsored programs infrastructure. Kaylee values work that helps faculty and institutional partners move promising ideas forward into impactful educational, clinical, and scholarly outcomes.
Ashley Green, PhD, MHA, CCLP, CIP
Dr. Green is a clinical research and IRB professional with more than 18 years of experience in biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research operations. She serves as IRB Administrator and Adjunct Faculty at Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM), where she oversees institutional IRB operations, regulatory compliance, faculty and student research support, and research education initiatives. Dr. Green previously held research leadership roles at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, and the Mississippi State Department of Health, contributing to oncology, epidemiology, infectious disease, and translational research initiatives. Her work has included support for collaborative COVID-19 clinical trial efforts involving the FDA, CDC, NIH, and Pfizer. In addition to her research leadership, Dr. Green is active in community engagement and mentorship through youth leadership and outreach initiatives in Memphis.
Jessica Jiles Carwell, DBA
Dr. Carwell is an experienced research administrator with over a decade of leadership in grant management, financial oversight, and full lifecycle administration of intramural and extramural portfolios. Her educational background spans business administration, health care management, and public health, supporting her work across academic and health care research environments. She has a proven record of strengthening research enterprises, including building compliant, scalable research infrastructure. Dr. Carwell is committed to advancing strategic research growth through effective leadership, collaboration, and forward-thinking solutions.
Jessica Thompson, BFA
Ms. Thompson earned her degree in Imaging Arts from the University of Mississippi. She brings more than ten years of experience in event and program administration across the nonprofit and higher education sectors. As Academic Operations Coordinator for the Office of Research at Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM), she supports day-to-day operations through purchasing and supply coordination in partnership with the research laboratory team, management of event logistics, and administrative support for a range of office initiatives. Known for a responsive and service-oriented approach, Jess helps keep programs and operations running smoothly while supporting the broader mission of the Office of Research.
