Mentoring Opportunities
Mentoring Opportunities
BUCOM offers multiple mentored research opportunities for medical students, including student-driven proposal development, a funded summer research program for rising OMS-II students, research electives during the clinical years, and other approved faculty-mentored scholarly projects. Students pursue a wide range of interests across basic science, clinical, educational, and translational research, and we are seeking mentors with diverse expertise to guide students in these areas. Mentors do not need to be actively conducting research; rather, ideal mentors are willing to support students by answering questions, providing guidance within their field of expertise, and offering feedback as students develop their ideas and projects. Training and support for mentors are available. Faculty interested in serving as mentors can learn more and express interest through the BUCOM Research Mentor Interest Form, while additional details on participating researchers and opportunities are available in the Research Faculty Portfolio. Students may also apply directly to the summer program using the Summer Internship Application Form.
