Interprofessional Education

Interprofressional Education

What is Interprofessional Education?

Interprofessional Education (IPE) is the practice of teamwork, communication, and collaboration among academic health care programs as a way to bridge the gap across disciplines, resulting in improved patient care.

At Baptist University, Interprofessional Education (IPE) is implemented through learning communities across academic disciplines and health care programs.

IPE

Baptist University’s Interprofessional Education is Unique

  • We are one of the few higher education institutions in the United States that has implemented IPE at the undergraduate level.
  • All students are introduced to IPE and are encouraged to be involved through their professional program.
  • IPE is on A continuum starting with a focus on inter-discipline/education and then moving on to professional courses.

All health care majors at Baptist University have opportunities to collaborate within professional disciplines. This can begin early on in general education courses to learn how interdisciplinary teams operate. Teamwork, communication and professional roles build toward an effective healthcare provider, ready to compete in a dynamic interprofessional health care environment.
