About the BHSSC
The Blue Healer Student Success Center (BHSSC) is an academic success center on campus for students to access student support services to help them fulfill their academic and career goals. The services include tutoring, mentoring opportunities, academic success planning, and a variety of workshops. We are located on the 2nd floor, back hallway, of the Campus Hub at 1003 Monroe Avenue, Memphis, Tenn. 38104.

Academic Professional Tutoring Services
Professional Tutors provide academic support in the following subject areas:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Biology
- Chemistry
- College Algebra and Statistics
- Nursing courses (fundamentals, med-surg, pharmacology support as appropriate)
Professional Tutoring:
- Support student academic success in challenging coursework
- Provide both scheduled and drop-in tutoring support (if applicable)
- Enhance retention and progression outcomes
Academic Support Tools and Platforms
Tutor.com
Tutor.com provides students with 24/7 online access to live tutoring support across a wide range of subjects, including math, science, and writing. It allows students to receive immediate academic assistance outside of regular campus hours, supporting flexible and on-demand learning.
Penji
Penji is an academic support platform that connects students to tutoring and success services in one centralized system. It allows students to schedule tutoring sessions, request academic assistance, and manage support services efficiently, improving access to student success resources.
Role of Academic Success Coaches
Academic Success Coaches support students by:
- Providing individualized academic coaching and success planning
- Supporting time management, organization, and study strategies
- Working with at-risk students through proactive outreach and intervention
- Connecting students with tutoring and campus resources
- Collaborating with faculty and support services to improve student outcomes
- Promoting retention, persistence, and program completion
Overall Purpose:
To support student success through structured coaching, academic guidance, and individualized support strategies.
Resources for Students
Tutoring
Peer tutors are provided for individual and group tutoring in the BHSSC free of charge in the following subjects: anatomy and physiology I and II, pathophysiology, algebra, physics, microbiology, chemistry, writing, and adult I and II nursing.
