HEERF QUARTERLY UPDATE 9/30/2020

As of 9/30/2020 the entirety of the HEERF student portion has been distributed to students in two separate disbursements, detailed below. 

4/30/2020 Disbursement

  • Baptist College of Health Sciences signed and returned the certification and agreement form and we have used, or intend to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of at least 50% of the total CARES Act funds for emergency financial aid grants to students.
    • Baptist College of Health Sciences signed and returned the certification and agreement form on April 16, 2020.  We have used, and intend to use, the funds to provide the mandated amount of at least 50% of the total CARES Act funds for emergency financial aid grants to students.
  • The total amount of funds that the institution will receive, or has received under the HEERF student portion.
    • $570,976
  • Of those funds, the total amount that was distributed to students as of the date of 4/30/2020.
    • $546,830 (CARES to students remaining $24,146)
  • The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and therefore eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant as of 4/30/2020.

    • CARES Grant awards were sent directly to students via direct deposit or paper check

7/2/2020 Disbursement

  • Remaining CARES to student funds totaling $24,146 was disbursed to 76 students on 7/2/2020
  • How the institution determined which students did, or will receive emergency financial aid grants and how much funding they did, or will receive on 7/2/2020.
    • Student had returned to clinical rotations on June 22, 2020
    • Student was not enrolled in an online program
    • Student met eligibility criteria outlined in section 484 of the Higher Education Act (HEA) as of March 13, 2020
    • Student had not graduated or withdrawn at the time CARES funds were distributed to students
  • Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency financial aid grants.
    • Students awarded the CARES Grant were notified via email of award
    • CARES Grant awards were sent directly to students via direct deposit or paper check

The total amount of funds the institution will receive or has received under the HEERFI, HEERFII, and HEERFIII institutional portion is $3,670,066. Additionally, the institution will receive or has received $183,761 for being a Minority Serving Institution, $149,251 from the Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) and $43,244 from Supplemental Support under American Rescue Plan (SSARP)​.

CRRSAA ACT FUNDS

4/4/2021 Disbursement

  • Baptist Health Sciences University was notified on January 19, 2021that we would receive additional Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA).

10/28/2021 Disbursement

  • Baptist Health Sciences University was notified on May 17, 2021 that we would receive additional Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
