Baptist University HealthCORE Inspires Future Health Care Professionals at Junior Achievement Inspire 2026 Career Expo

Baptist Health Sciences University HealthCORE had the privilege of volunteering at the Junior Achievement Inspire Career Exploration Fair 2026 at the Power Center Academy Middle School Hickory Hill. The event connected 400 6th – 8th students had the opportunity to explore new career paths, engage in hands-on activities, and connect classroom learning to real-world possibilities. Volunteers from Baptist University, including students, faculty, and staff, engaged attendees in conversations about diverse health care professions and shared information about the university’s academic programs.

Baptist university student, Zariyah Jeffery reflected on the experience: “Volunteering with Junior Achievement was a really fun and rewarding experience. One of my favorite parts was helping students use microscopes to look at different slides and learn about what they were seeing. It was exciting watching them get interested in the images and ask questions about cells, bacteria, and other tiny details they normally wouldn’t be able to see with just their eyes.”

Assistant professor Dana Wiley emphasized the value of early exposure to health care careers: “It was incredibly rewarding to spend the day introducing young students to Baptist University and inspiring them to explore the many health care career paths available to them. I love volunteering for JA events because they give students the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities. This year we set up four microscopes with different slides to show them a microscopic world many have never seen. The looks on their faces were priceless!”

Baptist University HealthCORE is grateful for its continued partnership with Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Midsouth, working together to strengthen connections between local schools and the university’s health care programs. Those interested in supporting future events are encouraged to volunteer at the upcoming Junior Achievement program on May 20, 2026.
