BHSU Unveils Newly Renovated Health Sciences Library

On Monday, February 3rd, Baptist Health Sciences University proudly reopened its Health Sciences Library, showcasing renovations that are designed to enhance student learning and engagement. This transformation was made possible through a Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) grant from the Department of Education. The grant has refreshed the library into a modern, student-centered hub.

Dr. Kim Cunningham, Dean of the Blue Healer Success Center, expressed the significance of the renovation, stating, "The library renovation transforms how Baptist University will inspire the minds of future health care professionals. The new space will improve campus engagement along with student success and retention."

Library Supervisor Vivi Britton echoed these sentiments, highlighting the team effort that made the renovations possible: "The Blue Healer Student Success Center is proud to unveil the newly renovated Health Sciences Library funded by a PBI grant through the Department of Education. Through the hard work of Dr. Kim Cunningham, Leanne Smith, and the library team, we’ve transformed a dated space into a library with flexible study spaces, new technology, and a welcoming atmosphere."

The renovations include upgrades in furniture, technology, and aesthetics to create a more functional and comfortable environment for students.

• Mobile whiteboard tables
• Computer stations with ample space for studying
• Comfortable desk chairs
• Secluded seating and tables for quiet study sessions
• Additional lobby seating for casual collaboration

New Technology

• 12 student computers for enhanced access to digital resources
• State-of-the-art projection and virtual meeting equipment in L3
• Convenient charging station for phones
• Portable chargers that support USB, USB-C, laptop plugs, and wireless fast charging
• New printers are in development and will be available soon

New Look

• Freshly painted walls creating a modern and inviting atmosphere
• Carpet for a polished and comfortable setting
• Upgraded lighting for better visibility and ambiance
• Artwork to inspire and enhance the study environment

With these enhancements, the Health Sciences Library is set to be a central resource for student success, offering an updated and dynamic space for study, collaboration, and innovation.
