BHSU's Annual Scholarship Luncheon Celebrates 115 Recipients

Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) celebrated its annual scholarship luncheon, honoring 115 students who received academic awards for the 2024-2025 school year. This event brought together both scholarship recipients and donors, fostering deeper connections and personal stories as they became a part of each other's academic journeys.

“The BHSU Annual Scholarship Luncheon is always a heartwarming celebration,” said Sherita Martin, Director of Development. “We come together to express our deepest gratitude to our generous donors and recognize the scholarship recipients for their hard work and academic accomplishments. We look forward to this event each year, as it serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of scholarship support.”

Jason Little, President and CEO of Baptist Health, addressed the audience, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their unwavering support and commitment to health care education. His words stress the role these contributions play in shaping the future of health care professionals.

Dr. Donna Mars, Associate Professor and Program Chair of Nuclear Medicine Technology and a1996 alumna of Baptist University, delivered an inspiring speech. She reflected on the legacy of Baptist’s educational programs and their positive impact on her professional career and those of countless graduates. 

The luncheon also featured a panel discussion led by Dr. Hampton Hopkins, President of BHSU, where scholarship recipients shared their testimonials. Carmen Maldonado, a Neurodiagnostic Technology student, Kenyon Page, a Nursing student, and Thomas Shapaker, a College of Osteopathic Medicine student, spoke about the importance of their scholarships. They expressed gratitude for the financial support that helped them to pursue their dreams and contribute to the health care field.

The annual scholarship luncheon not only celebrated academic excellence but also emphasized the community spirit that defines BHSU. Studentsfaculty, staff and donors all played a part in this event, leaving a shared sense of purpose and a stronger bond, united by their commitment to health care and education.
