New Scholarship Opportunities

Embarking on the journey of higher education can be both thrilling and daunting for many aspiring health care students. The promise of knowledge, growth, and new experiences often comes with the heavy burden of tuition fees. However, at Baptist Health Sciences University, we believe that financial constraints should never stand in the way of passionate learners and their dreams. That's why we're thrilled to introduce our latest initiative: the Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship for first-time freshmen and the Blue Healer Bridge Scholarship for transfer students. Read about the details of these opportunities below.

Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship: Free Tuition for First-time Freshmen

A last dollar award holds immense significance for new students as it serves as a vital bridge to fulfilling their educational dreams. For many new students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds or facing financial constraints, the cost of higher education can seem insurmountable. This award plays a crucial role in closing the financial gap, ensuring that no student is deprived of the opportunity to pursue their academic aspirations due to financial barriers. By providing that last bit of financial assistance needed to cover remaining tuition costs, the “Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship” transforms dreams into reality. It represents not only financial support but also a vote of confidence in the student's potential and a commitment to their success. Receiving this award can alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with financial uncertainty, allowing new students to focus wholeheartedly on their studies and fully engage in the college experience. Ultimately, the “Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship” embodies the principle of access to education for all, empowering new students to embark on their academic journey with optimism, determination, and the assurance that their dreams are within reach.

  • “Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship”: The “Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship” is a commitment to assist new first time freshmen with funding their college education at Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU). The Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship is a last-dollar scholarship which fills the gap between a student’s financial aid (Federal Pell Grant, Tennessee State Grants/Scholarships, institutional aid) and the cost of tuition.
    • In addition to the last-dollar scholarship for tuition, first-year students receive a $1,000 housing scholarship toward the cost of living on campus; $500 for fall 2024 and $500 for spring 2025.
  • Both the tuition and housing scholarships are awarded for fall 2024 and spring 2025 terms.

Who qualifies for the Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship?

  • All new first time freshmen students at BHSU
  • The housing portion of Blue Healer Pledge Scholarship is only available to new first-time freshmen who live on-campus.

What is the process?

  • STEP ONE: Be accepted for enrollment. You can apply immediately at baptistu.edu
  • STEP TWO: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • STEP THREE: Pay $100 enrollment fee and sign up for on-campus housing.

We are encouraging students for the entering class of 2024 to complete these three steps by June 1, 2024 for their best opportunity to enroll and secure housing, but students will have until June 1, 2024, to finish their FAFSA.
