Mission

The radiation therapy program will graduate competent, entry-level radiation therapists to become members of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing empathic care and therapeutic treatment to those who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates/students of the radiation therapy program will be clinically competent.

  • Students will perform clinical radiation therapy general patient care procedures according to competency standards.
  • Students will perform clinical radiation therapy procedures according to competency standards.
  • Students will design a portfolio showing clinical competency.

Graduates/students of the radiation therapy program will communicate effectively.

  • Student will demonstrate effective communication through an oral presentation
  • Students will be able to integrate communication skills learned in RTT 394 with RTT 310 through a service learning project.
  • Students will communicate effectively through written communication.

Graduates/students of the radiation therapy program will be able to problem solve and critically think.

  • Students will analyze a treatment or simulation procedure by creating a video or PowerPoint.
  • Students will interpret correct patient shifts in positioning for treatment.
  • Students will be able to interpret appropriate dosimetry calculation for specific treatment.

Graduates/students of the radiation therapy program will demonstrate professionalism.

  • Students will be able to demonstrate professional time management.
  • Students will interpret appropriate ethical behavior presented in case studies.
  • Students will appropriately identify ethical violation in clinic related to ARRT ethics rule
