BUCOM at Tennessee Academy of Science, Health and Medical Section Annual Meeting
In November, the Tennessee Academy of Science, Annual Meeting was held in Memphis, Tenn. at Rhodes College. Dr. Lilian Nyindodo, chair and associate professor of biomedical science at Baptist Health Science University College of Osteopathic Medicine, was asked to serve as a section chair for Health and Medical Section for the meeting.
As a section chair, Dr. Nyindodo was tasked with recruiting colleagues to judge the undergraduate and graduate student presentations. She was responsible for the Health and Medical Sciences section and was also asked to judge the Microbiology section, totaling 17 submissions. When she asked colleagues to volunteer, she was met with an enthusiastic responses.
Dr. Choby, Dr. Davis, Dr. Camarata, Dr. Woodham, Dr. Collier, Dr. Salmon, Dr. Vasauskas and Dr. Jegier, along with Dr. Nyindodo represented BUCOM as judges.
Due to the variety of expertise represented, Dr. Nyindodo had to select the colleagues who were best fit to judge certain presentations.
“This was a nice professional community service we performed with BUCOM,” said Dr. Nyindodo. “We are building something exciting, and I feel blessed to be a part of this journey with each of my colleagues.”
Next year’s meeting is set to take place in November in East Tennessee.
